We received a request from the customer to investigate the cause of early stage wear of the cemented carbide mold during the processing of electromagnetic steel sheets.
Proposal & result
Considering that it is difficult to improve wearing in dies for electromagnetic steel sheet processing with the current grade category, we have adopted a new design concept to improve "hardness", "toughness", and "corrosion resistance".
Therefore, we have developed the "EW series", a carbide grade that features these physical properties all at high levels.
We believe that this grade can be used not only for electrical steel sheets, but also under a wide range of conditions as a high-standard grade that achieves a high level of physical properties.

Regarding defects such as early stage mold damage, even if you determine that the grade used was not appropriate for the manufacturing conditions, or that there was a problem with the cemented carbide mold that was being used, and you have trouble changing to the optimal grade or manufacturer, we can investigate and report the possible main cause for this issue, whether it be the used mold material, the usage condition, mishandling etc., for you.
Even if the material defect is not the main cause, we can also investigate the wear influence state of the cemented carbide material and make high value-added improvement proposals, including the selection of materials to further improve the life of the mold.
